As a Compliance Specialist, it will be your role to monitor day-to-day activities and ensure that EDDY is compliant with the requirements of federal, state, and internal laws, regulations, and directives applicable to advertising and marketing to prospective students who are engaged through EDDY’s various marketing channels. Related regulatory bodies include, but are not limited to, the Department of Education (DoE), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Federal Communication Commission (FCC) as it pertains to the internet, mobile, and telephone marketing.

The Compliance Specialist, working under the direction and supervision of the Assistant General Counsel, will have specific responsibilities in these areas of regulatory compliance, as well as ensuring EDDY’s adherence to our contractual obligations to our clients.  Additionally, you will be responsible for providing compliance-related guidance to external and internal stakeholders.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, Reporting, and Remediation: Receive, record and investigate all reports relating to possible instances of non-compliance with the requirements described above, and supervise the remediation of those instances.  Instances of potential non-compliance will need to be tracked and reported on to internal and external stakeholders. Also responsible for managing EDDY’s 3rd party compliance monitoring vendors.
  • Liaising with internal staff: To ensure staff completes their mandatory training across Compliance areas. Providing guidance to EDDY’s marketing, client service, and creative teams to ensure EDDY’s marketing guidelines and procedures are in place and are updated as required. Work closely with our client services team to gain insight into client compliance guidelines and expectations. Highlight any deficiencies in compliance policies to relevant teams and feedback to the General Counsel.
  • Investigations: Analyze any trends in call and email records of prospective students that may indicate a non-compliance issue. Recommend and execute interventions after consulting with the General Counsel.  Escalate any problematic activity to management and assist in conducting formal investigations into compliance issues.
  • Maintaining a Compliance Roadmap: Ensure that the General Counsel and Compliance team are aware of any upcoming changes to EDDY’s marketing initiatives, and their impact on and compliance with regulatory requirements, including maintaining knowledge of industry best practices relevant to the marketing and compliance in the education space.
  • Point of Contact: Respond to all issues relating to the compliance operation and take measures necessary for resolving any of these issues to the satisfaction of both EDDY and our clients.
  • Implementation of Policies & Procedures: Working under the administration of the General Counsel, support the continuing development and enforcement of EDDY’s Compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements with a particular focus on establishing processes to ensure possible instances of non-compliance are investigated, recorded, and reported as appropriate.
  • May perform other duties as necessary or requested.

Preferred Skills

  • Industry Experience – Strong understanding of online media channels and trends in internet and mobile advertising and telemarketing as it relates to compliance and regulation (ideally, as applied in education).  
  • Team Player – Demonstrated ability to consistently contribute in a team setting. Solid interpersonal skills – the ability to pick up on nuances of client interaction and communications.   
  • Execution Focused –Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks in an extremely fast-paced environment, be extremely organized, and have an eye for detail. Strong analytical and project management skills.
