Why Organic Social Media Needs to Be In Your Mind

Post it to social,” how many times have social media managers heard this? What does it mean when someone outside the marketing department says that? How can it be part of your plan? The better content you produce, the more likely it will show up in search results.

Social Marketing Vs. Social Media

Social marketing uses channels to market to your audience as part of overarching plans. It shows your brand in ways audiences are used to it. Social media is where your brand, your messaging, and your community live. Social media is where your students share information and interact with it in real time, and in a world demanding ever-faster instant messaging, it is important that you show up for your audience and potential students. Not just telling them how great you are, but why they want to be part of the community.

EDDY works alongside your resources. We need your experts on campus to capture content; we are the resources to enhance it. We plan and direct to help ensure the content we create is good for organic search and can also live outside the organic space. It is making sure your assets are aligned and being used correctly. We dive into the content that works and, using research, take apart what did and what didn’t. We discuss how we can change and make it stronger.

Organic is still, and will always be important:

Being active vs. Being Intentional

You can post an image and call it a day. But being intentional with your content shows you are investing in your audience at every step.

Being more focused:

  • Creates Community on and Offline
  • Creates Brand Awareness
  • Helps Support and Provides Resources

EDDY, we create, produce, and schedule content. We also see the importance of community management and respond to the necessary content elements. We continue the conversation to boost engagement and help students feel connected to the brand, then use the information they share to shape future content.  What are the students saying, and how can we answer before the next student repeats the question?

AI Will Be an Assistant, But Won’t Replace

Social media is flooded with AI images, and even fruit acting like your favorite reality show. AI can help provide insights, but it won’t replace the strength of showing real people in real situations and real experiences. The importance of students speaking to future speaking will be more essential to combat the AI images and videos out there. The trust a school places in student communication will be deeply encouraged and profitable, as it demonstrates a school’s trust in its students to speak from the heart. That will not be replaced.

From working with your staff or assisting in building an asset library, we are thinking ahead. We aren’t going to scramble for content, but we are going to quickly build content, and most importantly, authentic content.

Integrating Trends Does More Than You Think

When someone says “trend,” what does that mean to a high school student? Following trends is more than doing the latest TikTok dance, because TikTok is more than that now. Following trends means how people communicate on the platform. The language on social media changes quickly! Finding ways to communicate in the same ways allows people to instantly see that your brand is listening and actively engaged, not just sharing content to be on the platform. It adds a layer of trust and shows that real people understand the spaces they live in online. Just make sure the trend is aligned with your brand. There are some trends that might simply not work for you, and that’s ok. It is better to find elements that work better and be more thoughtful than just jumping with the times.

EDDY, building off the assets we create, we see how to reshape to fit the trends. We are also flexible and creative, able to quickly respond to trends to enhance your community.

Biggest Takeaways

Organic social media should be thought throughout your marketing efforts. See where organic social fits at the start of marketing plans, how it can support your broader messaging, and how it can continue the conversation. Remember to tell a story with your content. If you are making relatable content, you won’t just capture them for a second; you will build a follower who will become a loyal digital community member and, eventually, a brand enthusiast.

Working with EDDY is more than us telling you; we are working alongside you, collaborating, and we want you to succeed. Please don’t ask us to do a dance, though.
